LSE Hair Transplant in Beverly Hills, CA
LINEAR STRIP EXCISION
IN BEVERLY HILLS, CA
For many people, hair plays a big role in their identity. Losing hair can seriously lower self-esteem and even prevent people from fully participating in activities they enjoy. At Crown, our goal is to help our patients find their confidence again by restoring their hair and maintaining hair growth using the best techniques in medicine.
WHAT IS LSE?
Linear Strip Excision (LSE), also known as the “strip method”, is a very common method of hair transplantation that has incredible benefits. Unlike FUE, with LSE there is no shaving necessary for the treatment because the grafts, or hair follicles, are not removed directly from the head. Instead, a small strip of the tissue is removed from the back of the head or the “donor site” where the hair is denser and healthier.
Next, the incision where the strip of tissue was removed is then stitched together with sutures leaving a minimal linear scar. Once excised, the strip of tissue is then dissected into smaller and smaller pieces, until all that’s left is the individual hair graft. This part of the process is what allows LSE to have such a high graft-take because each graft is produced by manually cutting away at the tissue surrounding it. Then, just like in FUE, those grafts are transplanted into the recipient area, where the hair is thinning or balding. LSE is a great option for those who need a significant number of grafts for their transplant and those who do not want to shave their hair
What Are The Benefits Of LSE?
- 1
Thick, Luscious Hair
This technique will make your hair feel and look thicker and natural.
- 2
High Graft Take
Hair follicles are harvested from the donor site very slowly so grafts tend to have more protective tissue surrounding them and thus, be higher-quality.
- 3
Significant Coverage
Achieve maximum fullness from hair restoration with this method.
Who Is A Candidate For LSE?
While anyone can potentially undergo the LSE procedure, patients with longer hair in the back of the head tend to favor this procedure. Because this procedure involves removing a “strip” of hair from the back of the patient’s head, a very fine horizontal scar is left where the strip is removed. Also, individuals undergoing a second hair restoration procedure may benefit from LSE if they have very little donor sites (healthy hair) remaining.
FAQs For LSE In Beverly Hills
How long does LSE surgery take?
With the LSE (strip) method, all grafts are removed at once with the removal of the strip. These grafts are then separated into “follicular units” under a microscope. This completes the first “half” of the procedure, and can sometimes be completed in as little as 2 hours. The second half of the procedure is the same as that in FUE.
What is recovery like?
You may feel a little sleepy or groggy after your procedure so make sure someone is available to pick you up from the clinic to take you back home or to your hotel. Clear instructions will be relayed to both you and your care-giver about appropriate medications to take after surgery.
What can I expect after treatment
After your surgery, you may be slightly sore for a few days, but you will have medication to help with the sensation. Within 1 week, you will follow up with your doctor who will check your donor site and recipient site for any possible concerns. You will continue to follow up with your doctor at various intervals to monitor the progression of your new hair.
What is scarring like after LSE surgery?
After the LSE procedure, there will be a very fine horizontal scar in the area of the donor site. Rest assured, our surgeons use special suture techniques to keep your scar to an absolute minimum.
